Children’s tickets for flights with national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will rise from 75 per cent to 90 per cent of the corresponding adult fare. Ticket prices for kids under two years old will remain at 10 per cent of the corresponding adult fare.
Budget carrier Vietjet Air will charge VND495,000 ($22) for changes in passenger names on domestic flights, up from VND352,000 ($15), and VND800,000 ($35) for international flights, up from VND630,000 ($28).
Changes to flight dates with Vietjet have increased from VND352,000 ($15) to VND374,000 ($16) for domestic flights and from VND670,000 ($29) to VND800,000 ($36) for international flights.
From April 1 to June 30, airport service charges at multiple airports, including Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City, Noi Bai in Hanoi, Da Nang, Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa province, Can Tho, Phu Quoc and others will rise from VND80,000 ($3.5) to VND85,000 ($4). Fees will become VND100,000 ($4.5) from July 1, according to the Ministry of Transport’s plan. Security screening service charges also increased from VND13,636 ($0.6) to VND18,181 ($0.8) from April 1.
Some travel companies said the increase in airfares will affect the price of tours because the airfare is a large part of the tour cost. Compared with other countries in the region, Vietnam's airfares do not encourage people to travel within the country. This may lead to an increase in outbound tours.
