Panasonic Vietnam has received a Golden Dragon Award from Vietnam Economic Times as the leading brand in Vietnam’s consumer electronics industry and for its positive contribution and continuous efforts in growing the domestic consumer electronics industry and supporting socioeconomic development.

“The year 2018 is an important milestone that marks the 100th anniversary of the Panasonic Corporation,” said Mr. Matsushita Kazuhiro, General Director of Panasonic Vietnam. “The world has changed significantly since our establishment but our commitment still remains unchanged, which is to constantly contribute to society for a better life and a better world. The Golden Dragon Award 2018 not only recognizes our efforts to fulfill this commitment in Vietnam for the past 50 years but also further reaffirms that our unwavering business philosophy is the foundation for the corporation’s sustainable development. This award is also encouragement and inspiration for us to continue contributing to Vietnam’s prosperity and sustainable development and improve the quality of life for Vietnamese people.”

The nearly five decades of Panasonic’s presence in Vietnam has seen the company grow into a leading consumer electronics brand, recording sales turnover of $1 billion in 2017, with growth across almost all businesses and investment totaling $243 million.

The group of Panasonic companies in Vietnam is now the workplace of approximately 8,000 employees, with seven affiliated companies, including five factories, conducting a full range of business activities, from R&D to manufacturing, sales and distribution, customer service, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

In addition to its leading position in consumer electronics, with a vision to becoming a pioneering total B2B solutions provider, from housing to commerce, Panasonic expects to create a new image in Vietnam in order to meet the growing demand for housing, transport, air quality, security, lighting, logistics, and factories, etc.

As part of its business in Vietnam, Panasonic is known for its diverse corporate social responsibility activities. One highlight is Panasonic Risupia Vietnam, a communications space for Panasonic and its customers, established with free entry since 2010 and welcoming more than half a million students and visitors to date. The facility consists of a showroom where customers can sample new lifestyle ideas through experiencing Panasonic's latest products and advanced technologies. Other activities include the Panasonic scholarship program, supporting Vietnamese students to realize their dreams, 100,000 solar lanterns presented to remote communities with no electricity access, Eco relay, with annual tree planting “For a Green Vietnam”, and the Kids Witness News program, and others, which are widely known by the public as being implemented annually by Panasonic Vietnam for many years.

The Golden Dragon Awards have been hosted by Vietnam Economic Times since 2001 and are much sought after by the FDI community. Its major aim is to recognize and encourage FDI enterprises that achieve outstanding business performance, provide environment-friendly solutions, technologies or services, act in accordance with their tax obligations, ensure labor benefits, and are active in social contributions.
