Huawei Y5 Prime (2018) silently unveiled, runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box

Huawei"s mid-range and entry-level Y series handsets are silently making their way to various markets, and even if they don"t benefit from the glamorous launch event of the P or Mate series, they constitute the bulk of Huawei"s sales.

The Y5 Prime (2018) recently popped up on Huawei"s official website, which suggests the smartphone might go on sale very soon. Specs-wise, the smartphone is nothing to brag about, but as long as the price is right, it shouldn"t matter that much.

First off, the device offers dual-SIM support, but some markets will only get the single-SIM model. On the inside, Huawei"s mid-range smartphone packs a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB expandable storage.

There"s also a 13-megapixel camera on the back side, and a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera in the front. Surprisingly, the Y5 Prime (2018) is supposed to offer a Face Unlock feature, but after a software update that will be released in the future.

Finally, the phone is powered by a 3,020 mAh battery and runs Android 8.1 Oreo right out of the box, which is something rare considering this is a mid-range device.
